Therapy Dogs

Meet 4-month-old Fiona.Nightingale (Instagram: @faithfully.fiona). Future therapy dog. Current good girl. Always hungry.

She’s half Cane Corso (Italian Mastiff), half Dogue de Bordeaux (French Mastiff), which equals 100% adorbs. I adopted her on July 3, 2021 primarily for companionship; I wanted an adventure buddy to go on hikes with in nature or simply walk around my neighborhood. Now that she is fully vaccinated, Fiona definitely gives me a reason to get out and about more.

Although Fiona is still too young to hiking, one of the unexpected benefits of adopting her is that she’s helped alleviate a lot of my anxiety in the short time she’s been part of my life. It’s simply her presence that I find comforting because I don’t consider her all that affectionate towards me. Yet the way she loves on other people, even complete strangers, makes me believe becoming a therapy dog is her calling.

Therapy dogs are dogs who volunteer in settings such as schools, hospitals, and nursing homes.

From working with children learning to read, visiting people in hospitals, or seniors in assisted living facilities, a therapy dog works together with their owner as a team to improve the lives of other people.

But Fiona is still a puppy and has a long way (and a lot of training) to go.

In the meantime, one of the ways we can help now is by donating a portion of the proceeds from each purchase at i Truly Adorn You to a therapy dog organization, which is one of two causes near and dear to our hearts (the other being cancer prevention & early detection).

Because i Truly Adorn You is made with love in order to give more love in all that we do.
